Selvamalar's was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1994 and legal practice straddles Compliance as well as Employment law. She provides integrated support to a wide range of clients in various industries with particular emphasis on crafting relevant policies to manage risks associated with bribery & corruption, training for board members and all levels of personnel, advising and guiding corporations on a holistic anti-bribery management system.
She also provides support on all employment/human resource related matters including compliance with all laws applicable to employment relationships; managing the exit of employees whether by way of collective reduction in force exercises or individual terminations for misconduct or poor performance; protection of confidential and proprietary information; investigations and disciplinary actions; trade unions, both recognition and collective bargaining; dispute resolution at all levels and business immigration.
In recent years, in tandem with the development in law and international standards, Selvamalar scope of practice has had particular focus on corporate accountability such as efforts to develop and maintain appropriate standards within corporations for gender equality, diversity, data privacy, harassment free workplace, safety and health (including mental health), modern slavery, sustainable practices.
Her practice also includes providing strategic advice in internal fraud management to clients in high profile and highly sensitive matters involving fraud perpetrated by employees; and the options available to the organisations to obtain redress against the wrongdoers.
She has been recognised as thought leader Who's Who Legal for Labour and Employment since 2017, "Leading Individual" for Employment & Industrial Relation by Chambers Asia-Pacific from 2009-2021 and as “Leading Lawyer” by asialaw Profiles from 2016 - 2021.
